Borussia Dortmund player ratings from 2-0 defeat to RB Leipzig
By Tushar Bahl
Julian Brandt (4/10)
Brandt had a frustrating evening on the pitch and the game passed him by largely before he was taken off at the hour mark. The Germany international still seems to be dealing with the after-effects of his injury.
Marco Reus (4/10)
Reus was forced to do a lot of defending with RB Leipzig dominating the game in the first half. That changed after the break, but the Borussia Dortmund captain appeared to be out of ideas before being replaced by Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.
Donyell Malen (4/10)
Malen started up front and wasn’t afforded any time on the ball in the first half. A position change at half-time helped him play his natural game. But he still wasn’t able to cause any major problems to the RB Leipzig defenders.
Youssoufa Moukoko (5/10)
Moukoko came on at half-time and was marked out of the game by the RB Leipzig defenders. The striker struggled to get involved in the game, and touched the ball on just 13 occasions.
Jude Bellingham (5/10)
Bellingham was left out of the starting XI due to Borussia Dortmund’s fixture congestion. He did add some energy to the BVB midfield after coming on. But it was another performance bereft of the confidence and creativity that we are so used to seeing from him.
