Report: Ansgar Knauff increasingly unlikely to stay at Borussia Dortmund after loan spell
By Tushar Bahl
Ansgar Knauff is increasingly unlikely to return to Borussia Dortmund after his loan spell with Eintracht Frankfurt comes to an end in the summer.
Ansgar Knauff’s loan deal with Eintracht Frankfurt will expire at the end of the season, and the highly rated wide player is facing a bit of an uncertain future at the moment. The Eagles are interested in signing him on a permanent transfer, and it appears that they have a good chance of doing that.
According to BILD, the high competition for places in the Borussia Dortmund squad means that the chances of Knauff staying at the club next season are not very high. The tabloid claims that the BVB bosses held a conversation with the 21 year old recently, but weren’t able to offer his representatives the first-team perspective they were seeking.
Knauff has less than 18 months left on his current contract with Borussia Dortmund. And BILD add that Eintracht Frankfurt are willing to pay around five million euros to sign him on a permanent transfer.
A number of other clubs have also reportedly made enquiries about the Germany U-21s international, including clubs from England.
Ansgar Knauff, who joined Eintracht Frankfurt on an 18-month loan deal in January 2022, helped Oliver Glasner’s side win the UEFA Europa League last season. He has struggled with a few injury problems this season, and has found himself in and out of the team in recent weeks. Knauff has made a total of 47 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt, and has four goals and five assists to his name.
