VfB Stuttgart vs Borussia Dortmund: Team News
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund have a bit of a personnel crisis in defence ahead of their Bundesliga clash against VfB Stuttgart this weekend.
There are just seven games left before the end of the season, and Borussia Dortmund are currently locked in a battle for the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich. The Black and Yellows will be facing VfB Stuttgart this weekend, looking to end their dismal recent run of form away from home.
Borussia Dortmund will be without Nico Schlotterbeck and probably Niklas Süle this weekend, with the defensive duo dealing with muscular injuries. Emre Can is the likeliest option to join Mats Hummels at centre-back. Young defender Soumaila Coulibaly could also feature.
Julien Duranville and Mateu Morey will also miss Saturday’s game for Borussia Dortmund, but Marius Wolf is expected to return to the squad. Youssoufa Moukoko could be in contention to start after coming off the bench and scoring the winner against Union Berlin last weekend.
VfB Stuttgart have found a bit of form since the arrival of Sebastian Hoeneß as head coach. They go into this weekend’s game on the back of two straight wins, and are battling to avoid relegation from the Bundesliga.
Hoeneß fielded a back three in Stuttgart’s win over VfL Bochum last weekend. And it will be interesting to see if he makes any changes to that team. Stuttgart do not have any major injury concerns ahead of the game.
