Borussia Dortmund will be without Nico Schlotterbeck and possibly Niklas Süle as they go up against VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga this weekend.

A tricky away game awaits Borussia Dortmund on Saturday as they square off against the resurgent VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. After returning to winning ways last weekend, the Black and Yellows will now look to go on a winning run and continue their bid to win the Bundesliga title.

Borussia Dortmund are facing a bit of an injury crisis in central defence, with Nico Schlotterbeck already sidelined and Niklas Süle dealing with a muscle injury. Here we take a look at Edin Terzic’s potential starting XI for Saturday’s trip to Stuttgart.

Gregor Kobel will start between the sticks for Borussia Dortmund once again on Saturday. The Swiss shot-stopper will be hoping to keep his first clean-sheet since February.

It will be interesting to see who partners Mats Hummels in central defence against Stuttgart. Emre Can is the obvious choice, with the midfielder more than capable of slotting in at centre-back. Soumaila Coulibaly is a more natural centre-back, but he has yet to start a first-team game for Borussia Dortmund.

Marius Wolf could return to the starting XI in place of Julian Ryerson after missing the Union Berlin game due to an infection. Raphael Guerreiro is expected to start at left-back once again after impressing in that role last weekend.

If Emre Can is needed in defence, Salih Özcan could start in the number six role. Mahmoud Dahoud is also an option, although he has only been used sporadically this season.

Jude Bellingham will keep his spot in midfield, with Julian Brandt starting alongside him in the number eight role. The duo will be crucial of Borussia Dortmund’s hopes of finding a breakthrough past Stuttgart on Saturday.

Karim Adeyemi showed glimpses of his quality last weekend, and Donyell Malen is in the best form of his BVB career at the moment. They should start out wide against Stuttgart as well. Youssoufa Moukoko scored the winner last weekend and deserves a chance to play from the start. Sebastien Haller could make way for him.
