Borussia Dortmund’s veteran center back Mats Hummels will be fit to face Eintracht Frankfurt as the two sides prepare to clash this coming Saturday, per Kicker.

Following last weekend’s draw against VFB Stuttgart, Borussia Dortmund will be looking to bounce back as they take on Eintracht Frankfurt this coming Saturday. There is some good news on the injury and availability front for for Die Schwarzgelben as Mats Hummels will be available to play the game.

With Hummels able to take part in the fixture, that means Dortmund will have at least one natural center back available. Of course, Nico Schlotterbeck remains sidelined due to injury. Schlotterbeck initially picked up a knock while on international duty, which was said to be nothing of concern at the time. In the club’s game against Bayern Munich however, Schlotterbeck sustained a torn muscle fibre in his leg which has unfortunately made him unavailable at least for the rest of this month.

On Niklas Süle‘s part however, a return against Eintracht Frankfurt is still up in the air. Süle has been out due to what have been labelled as “muscular problems”, so it looks like there is a possibility that Edin Terzić will have to look for creative solutions in terms of a center back pairing for this game.

Edin Terzić received stark criticism for taking off Hummels in last weekend’s game against Stuttgart, with many expressing their distaste regarding the head coach’s choice to throw in Soumaila Coulibaly and partner him with Emre Can after Dortmund were 2-0 up over their opponents. It remains to be seen just what solutions Terzić will come up with, but, as with every game until the end of the season, it is a must win if they want to keep pace with Bayern Munich, and keep the title race open for as long as they can.
