Don’t take the gas off the pedal

Borussia Dortmund’s fortunes at home have been well-documented this season. For whatever reason, this team has been as consistently impressive at home as it’s been consistently vacillating on the road. A sense of urgency, aggression, and intent should be left as a lasting imprint on the print from kick-off.

Far too often, and rather inexplicably, this team takes its collective foot off the gas when it needs to go for the jugular. Terzic’s squad has become married to the concept that an established lead equates to a path to victory that can be traveled on autopilot. A troubling reality that can’t be ignored if Borussia Dortmund are to take this title push to the very end of the season.

Put away the reckless tactical streak of defensive lapses and abandoned marking assignments. Zero in on every Wolfsburg possession with the intention to hunt for the ball and exploit counter-attacking space with the same obsession until the final whistle.

In short, impose your quality on Wolfsburg by forcing them to hold a resilient defensive shape for 90 minutes. Something that didn’t happen early in the season vs Werder Bremen or recently at Stuttgart.
