Borussia Dortmund are reportedly considering signing Werder Bremen forward Marvin Ducksch as a potential back-up option for next season.

The upcoming summer transfer window promises to be a transformative one for Borussia Dortmund, and squad planning is already underway for next season. According to Sky Sport, the BVB bosses are thinking about potentially making a move for Marvin Ducksch, who is enjoying an impressive season with Werder Bremen.

The report adds that there is a release clause of 7.5 million euros in Ducksch’s contract with Werder Bremen, which should not be an issue for Borussia Dortmund.

Ducksch came through the youth ranks at Borussia Dortmund, and made eight first-team appearances for the club during the 2013/14 season. He primarily played for BVB II and made 84 appearances for them, before joining FC St. Pauli in 2016.

The striker has been at Werder Bremen since 2021 and has played a key role in their recent success. He has scored 12 goals and assisted a further six in 31 Bundesliga appearances for Werder Bremen this season.

It remains to be seen how real Borussia Dortmund’s interest is in signing Marvin Ducksch. The 29 year old is primarily a centre forward but is also capable of playing as the second striker in a two-striker formation, as he has so often done to great effect for Werder Bremen this season.
