Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens set to miss the rest of the season due to his persistent shoulder injury, per BILD.

According to reports released by BILD, Borussia Dortmund will have to do without Jamie Bynoe-Gittens for the rest of the season as the player is set to undergo surgery on his shoulder. Bynoe-Gittens has had recurring issues with the shoulder in question after he initially dislocated it in the first half of the season in Dortmund’s loss to Werder Bremen.

Bynoe-Gittens absence will add some discomfort for Dortmund as they look to do all they can to catch and overtake league leaders Bayern Munich in the final three games of the season; a stretch of games that Edin Terzić would have likely preferred to have all possible players at his disposal for. On the flip side however, Bynoe-Gittens will finally be getting the treatment he needs to put this injury saga behind him after it has hampered him throughout the entirety of the current season. Both Donyell Malen and Karim Adeyemi are playing out of their skin at the current moment, which would have likely meant that the young Englishman would have only gotten minutes in the event of either player needing some respite or rest.

Bynoe-Gittens, while limited in his appearances for Die Schwarzgelben this season, has chipped in with three goals and an assist in the Bundesliga. He managed this over the course of 533 minutes of game time, scoring last minute goals of importance for his side that have helped get them to the position they are in the league.

Bynoe-Gittens will undoubtedly be disappointed that he can’t be there to help his teammates, but the player’s physical well-being will have to take precedence in this situation. Dortmund will be hoping that the surgery in question will help the young Englishman overcome his injury woes and return to the club stronger for pre-season, ready to make an impact when called upon in future games.
