Marius Wolf (5/10)

Wolf had a difficult time defensively at right-back and often failed to track Gladbach’s runs in behind. He struggled on a couple of occasions against Ramy Bensebaini and was also beaten far too easily in the build-up to Stindl’s goal.

Niklas Süle (6/10)

Süle did not have the best of starts and was beaten very easily by Bensebaini, before Kobel produced a strong save to deny the Gladbach full-back. The Germany international showed his quality after the break by clearing Luca Netz’s shot off the line.

Mats Hummels (7/10)

Hummels continued his fine run of form and managed to keep Gladbach at bay rather comfortably. He defended very shrewdly and also played some dangerous line-breaking forward passes.

Julian Ryerson (6/10)

Ryerson did not do much wrong and made a number of forward runs without ever looking like causing any major problems to the Gladbach defenders. He did his job well defensively before being replaced by Raphael Guerreiro in the second half.
