Borussia Dortmund ready to let Nico Schulz leave on a free transfer
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly ready to let Nico Schulz leave the club on a free transfer, as they look to try and cut their losses on the left-back.
Borussia Dortmund have been attempting to part ways with Nico Schulz for two years now, but haven’t been able to find a solution as of yet. The left-back has come close to leaving BVB on a few occasions, but a move hasn’t materialised.
The BVB bosses will once again try to sell Schulz in the summer transfer window. And BILD are claiming that they are ready to let the 30 year old leave without receiving a transfer fee in return.
Schulz has been frozen out of the Borussia Dortmund first-team squad by Edin Terzic, and hasn’t played competitively for the club since May 2022. The former TSG Hoffenheim player still has more than 12 months left on his current contract with the Black and Yellows.
Nico Schulz joined Borussia Dortmund in 2019 for a fee in the region of 25 million euros, but failed to make any impact on the pitch. He has made a total of 61 appearances for the club and is extremely unlikely to add to that.
Schulz earns an annual salary of six million euros at Borussia Dortmund, and those in charge at the club will be desperate to shed his salary from the wage bill in the summer. But it still remains to be seen if any clubs will show an interest in signing the former Germany international. Lazio and Atalanta were linked with a move for him in January.
