Borussia Dortmund appear to have beaten Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to the signing of Spanish U-16 international Ousmane Diallo.

Borussia Dortmund have managed to add yet another young talent to the club with the signing of 15 year old winger Ousmane Diallo. The youngster is set to sign for Dortmund’s U-19 side, which will significantly increase the talent pool in Dortmund’s youth ranks. Diallo is currently with Deportivo Alavés, but will look to join the German side in what will be another coup for Die Schwarzgelben.

Diallo was sought after by clubs such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, but according to Ruhr Nachrichten, Dortmund have won the proverbial tug of war over the U-16 Spanish international. Earlier reports had suggested that Bayern were in the pole position to sign the highly rated talent, but the tide has clearly swung in favor of their title-rivals.

Diallo, as a player, is renowned for his ability in one on one scenarios, dribbling and the pace he exhibits on the pitch. The player is considered a huge talent so Dortmund will have brought him in with a clear path to the first team in mind. He will quite possibly follow in the footsteps of the likes of Jadon Sancho, Youssoufa Moukoko and Jamie-Bynoe Gittens to become one of Dortmund’s lethal attacking options.

If Borussia Dortmund’s track record is anything it go by, Diallo could certainly become part of the first team setup within the next couple of years. With the market as inflated as it is, long term investments in youth players will become more and more important for BVB and other clubs to maintain a sustainable recruitment model.

Of course, Borussia Dortmund have been slowly moving away from just molding young, talented gems and focusing on bringing in more established players as well, but having a strong pool of youth to choose from will help the team sprinkle both vibrance and creative flair amongst the more established players they continue to target. This will ensure that Dortmund will hopefully have a far more balanced squad in the coming years.
