Borussia Dortmund will have the chance to go top in the Bundesliga standings on Sunday after Bayern Munich fell to a 3-1 defeat to RB Leipzig.

A stunning second half comeback from RB Leipzig saw Bayern Munich fall to a 3-1 defeat, leaving Borussia Dortmund with a golden opportunity to win the Bundesliga title this season. Marco Rose did his former club a massive favour, and BVB can now move to the top of the Bundesliga standings with a win over FC Augsburg on Sunday.

Bayern Munich took the lead mid-way through the first half, with Serge Gnabry finding the back of the net. But Konrad Laimer, who is set to join Bayern on a free transfer in the summer, equalised for the away side in the 64th minute. Christopher Nkunku and Dominik Szoboszlai then netted penalties to hand Bayern what could prove to be a very damaging defeat.

Bayern Munich are now one point clear of Borussia Dortmund, having played a game more. The Black and Yellows will have the chance to take a two point lead at the top of the Bundesliga standings on Sunday, when they face Bayern’s local rivals FC Augsburg.

Borussia Dortmund have struggled away from home in recent games, and will be without the injured Jude Bellingham on Sunday. But Edin Terzic will be hoping that the chance to win the Bundesliga title for the first time in 11 years will spur his side to victory.
