Sebastian Kehl is hopeful that Jude Bellingham will be able to recover from his knee injury in time for Borussia Dortmund’s clash against Mainz 05 this weekend.

Jude Bellingham is dealing with a knee injury at the moment and was forced to miss Borussia Dortmund’s trip to FC Augsburg last weekend as a result. The England international is also a doubt for this weekend’s crunch clash against Mainz 05. And Sebastian Kehl has now given an update on his status.

During Wednesday’s media round, the Borussia Dortmund sporting director revealed that Bellingham did not train with the team on Wednesday either but he is working very hard on his comeback bid.

"“Jude didn’t train with the team today, but individually. We all know that he is incredibly ambitious. He has the goal completely on his radar and is doing everything he can to be there on Saturday. I can already predict that he will definitely be there – in what role we will see.”"

The 19 year old picked up a knee injury during Borussia Dortmund’s clash against Borussia Mönchengladbach earlier this month, and has not been able to train with the team since.

Borussia Dortmund need three points against Mainz 05 this weekend to win the Bundesliga title for the first time in 11 years. And everyone at the club will be hoping that Jude Bellingham can recover from his injury in time to feature in Saturday’s game.

Bellingham has made a total of 42 appearances for Borussia Dortmund so far this season, and has 14 goals and seven assists to his name.

With Real Madrid interested in signing Bellingham, the game on Saturday could also prove to be the midfielder’s final game in a BVB shirt. As for Bellingham’s future, Kehl revealed on Wednesday that Borussia Dortmund have yet to receive any bids for him.
