Karim Adeyemi (N/R)

After a lively start, Adeyemi picked up a hamstring injury and was forced to come off.

Donyell Malen (4/10)

Malen caused the Mainz defenders a few problems in the first half, but was unable to find the required solutions after the break. He had a couple of decent half-chances but wasn’t able to test the Mainz goalkeeper.

Sebastien Haller (3/10)

Haller missed a penalty to bring Borussia Dortmund back on level terms early on, and then failed to find the net from close range in the second half. He tried his best, but wasn’t able to make his presence felt in a crowded penalty area.

Marco Reus (4/10)

Reus came on to replace Adeyemi in the first half but wasn’t able to make the desired impact. The Borussia Dortmund captain had a golden opportunity to score in the 74th minute, but failed to find the target.

Youssoufa Moukoko (5/10)

Moukoko worked hard and tried to make things happen. Playing predominantly out wide, he helped set up a couple of decent chances for his teammates. But he also went for goal and fired wide in the 67th minute, when passing the ball may have been the better option.
