Hans-Joachim Watzke has said that Edin Terzic has delivered on everything they could have asked for in his first full season as Borussia Dortmund head coach.
Edin Terzic’s first full season as Borussia Dortmund head coach ended on Saturday, with his side missing out on the Bundesliga title on goal difference. The 40 year old, who replaced Marco Rose as head coach last summer, took the Black and Yellows ever so close to winning the Bundesliga title for the first time in 11 years despite facing an unprecedented number of challenges.
But an 89th minute winner from Jamal Musiala helped Bayern Munich retain their Bundesliga crown, and Borussia Dortmund’s wait to lift the Meisterschale will now go on for at least another season.
Despite Borussia Dortmund’s failure to win the Bundesliga title, Hans-Joachim Watzke believes that Edin Terzic has done an excellent job this season. The BVB CEO feels that Terzic has delivered on everything they could have hoped for and brought everyone at the club together.
"In an interview with Ruhr Nachrichten, Watzke said:“Everything we hoped for from Edin Terzic, he has delivered on more than 100 percent. He is an exceptional coach. He gives this club a sympathetic face. He is authentic and empathetic. The fact that Borussia Dortmund is so united is also because of him.”"
After a promising first season as Borussia Dortmund head coach, Terzic’s next task will be to turn the team into perennial title contenders.
The boyhood BVB fan will look to erase the inconsistency that plagued the team for much of this season, especially away from home and in big games. And the hope will be that they can take the fight to Bayern Munich once again next season.
