Four Borussia Dortmund players in Germany squad for upcoming friendlies

Germany are set to play three friendly matches this month, and Hansi Flick has named four Borussia Dortmund players in his 26-man squad.

The post-season international break is almost upon us and Hansi Flick has revealed his Germany squad for their upcoming friendly matches. Borussia Dortmund quartet Nico Schlotterbeck, Marius Wolf, Emre Can, and Julian Brandt have all been included in the Germany squad for their friendly matches against Ukraine, Poland and Colombia.

Marius Wolf has earned his second call-up to the Germany squad after impressing during the friendly matches against Peru and Belgium in March. The 28 year old will look to stake another claim to establish himself as Germany’s first-choice right-back ahead of next year’s European Championship.

Emre Can and Julian Brandt have also been called up by Hansi Flick on the back of their impressive performances in the second half of the season for Borussia Dortmund.

Nico Schlotterbeck has also been called up after recovering from his injury. But Karim Adeyemi has been left out after picking up what looked like a hamstring injury during Borussia Dortmund’s final game of the season. Kicker reported on Thursday that the forward is expected to be sidelined for a period of around three weeks.

Meanwhile, Youssoufa Moukoko has been named in the Germany U-21s squad for this month’s UEFA European Under-21 Championship. Germany are the defending champions, and will face Israel, Czech Republic and England in the group stage.

Borussia Dortmund loanee Ansgar Knauff, who is likely to join Eintracht Frankfurt on a permanent transfer this summer, has also been called up by head coach Antonio Di Salvo.
