Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of Ramy Bensebaini, with the left-back putting pen to paper on a four year contract.
Borussia Dortmund have completed their first major signing of the summer, with Ramy Bensebaini joining the club on a free transfer from Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 28 year old has signed a four year contract with the Black and Yellows, and is now looking forward to competing for titles in the coming years.
"“I don’t need to say much about the appeal of Borussia Dortmund. The extraordinary atmosphere at Signal Iduna Park, which pushes the team, is something I’ve felt myself as an opposing player,” Bensebaini said.“I know what BVB is capable of and I’m sure that as a team we will build on the second half of the past season. I can’t wait to be part of BVB, to play for titles and experience the special atmosphere in Dortmund.”"
Sebastian Kehl and co. had been interested in bringing Bensebaini to Borussia Dortmund for some time now. The Algerian international was heavily linked with a move to BVB last summer as well, but nothing materialised. With his Gladbach contract expiring at the end of the season, the BVB bosses moved quickly to secure his signing.
Bensebaini will replace Raphael Guerreiro at left-back for Borussia Dortmund. The Portuguese international rejected the club’s contract offer and will leave on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the month.
Ramy Bensebaini will bring defensive resolve and offensive efficiency to Borussia Dortmund. He is regarded as one of the most prolific left-backs in the Bundesliga, and is also capable of playing at centre-back in a back three.
Bensebaini made a total of 113 appearances for Borussia Mönchengladbach, scoring 25 goals and registering eight assists. Seven of those goals came in the recently concluded season. The left-back scored in both of Gladbach’s meetings against Borussia Dortmund this season. Now he moves to BVB, where he will hope to make a similar impact on both ends of the pitch.
