Birmingham City to receive 5% of the transfer fee if Jude Bellingham leaves Borussia Dortmund
A sell-on clause in Jude Bellingham’s contract means that if the midfielder leaves Borussia Dortmund this summer, his former club will earn 5% of the transfer fee.
Jude Bellingham is being heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, with Borussia Dortmund bracing themselves for his exit this summer. The Spanish giants have already seemingly reached an agreement on personal terms with the England international, and are hoping to complete his signing before the end of the month.
The Black and Yellows want a transfer fee in the region of 150 million euros for the sale of Bellingham, who still has two years left on his current contract. Although it currently remains to be seen what the final fee will be.
If Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid manage to reach an agreement over the transfer, the 19 year old’s former club will also receive a seven-figure windfall. This is being reported by BILD, who claim that Birmingham City will be entitled to 5% of the transfer fee Borussia Dortmund receive for the potential sale of Bellingham.
Jude Bellingham joined Borussia Dortmund from hometown club Birmingham City for a fee in the region of 25 million euros in 2020. The midfielder made his first-team breakthrough for Birmingham City aged just 16, and the English second division side even decided to retire the No. 22 shirt following his move to BVB.
Bellingham has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world at Borussia Dortmund over the last three years, and played a crucial role in their title bid in the recently concluded season.
