Jude Bellingham wins Bundesliga players’ player of the season award

Jude Bellingham has been named the Bundesliga player of the season by his fellow players, receiving almost 30% of the total votes.

Jude Bellingham has capped off his exemplary season by winning the VDV player of the season award. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder received 29.6% of the total votes cast.

Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani finished second in the race, followed by Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala. Kolo Muani won the VDV newcomer of the season award, receiving 56.3% of the votes.

The VDV is the professional players’ union in Germany and has close to 1300 members that play in the country’s top four leagues. Bellingham becomes the first Borussia Dortmund player to win the prestigious award since Marco Reus, who won it in 2019.

Jude Bellingham and Gregor Kobel were also named in the VDV team of the season, while Edin Terzic finished third in the VDV coach of the season race. The Borussia Dortmund head coach received 14.6% of the total votes.

Urs Fischer won the VDV coach of the season award after leading Union Berlin to another successful season, and helping them qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history. The Union Berlin head coach received more than a third of the total votes.

The VDV team of the season features a total of five Bayern Munich players, including Matthijs de Ligt, Jamal Musiala, Joshua Kimmich, Alphonso Davies, and Dayot Upamecano. RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong, and Werder Bremen’s Niclas Füllkrug have also been named in the XI.
