Thomas Meunier is free to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, and is reportedly waiting for an offer from FC Barcelona.

Borussia Dortmund are ready to sell Thomas Meunier this summer in order to make room for Iván Fresneda. And AS are reporting that the Belgian international is looking to join FC Barcelona. The Spanish giants have been heavily linked with a move for Meunier over the last 18 months, and could look to reignite their interest in him this summer.

The report adds that Borussia Dortmund are willing to let Meunier leave the club on a free transfer this summer to free up some space on their wage bill. Italian clubs Inter Milan and Juventus are said to be leading the race for the 31 year old’s signature. But Meunier’s priority is to join FC Barcelona.

It remains to be seen how concrete Barcelona’s interest is in signing Meunier. But their bleak financial situation means that the BVB right-back is one of the few targets they can afford right now.

Thomas Meunier has fallen out of favour at Borussia Dortmund, with Edin Terzic preferring to use Marius Wolf and Julian Ryerson at right-back. And the Black and Yellows are also looking to sign the highly rated Iván Fresneda from Real Valladolid.

Meunier still has 12 months left on his current contract with Borussia Dortmund. But the likelihood is that he will leave the club this summer. The right-back has made a total of 75 appearances for Borussia Dortmund since joining the club on a free transfer from PSG in 2020.
