Borussia Dortmund reportedly willing to extend Marius Wolf’s contract
Borussia Dortmund are said to be interested in extending the contract of Marius Wolf, with just over 12 months left on his current deal.
After breaking into the Borussia Dortmund starting XI in the second half of the recently concluded season, Marius Wolf could be in line for a contract extension. This is being reported by Ruhr Nachrichten, who add that the BVB bosses would like to offer him a new contract with more performance-based incentives.
Marius Wolf joined Borussia Dortmund from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2018, but struggled to break into the team initially. After two loan spells, he returned to BVB with great resolve and showed that he is capable of making an impact in the team. And he followed that up by establishing himself as a regular starter at right-back in the second half of this season.
The 28 year old also broke into the Germany squad this season, and will now look to cement his place in Hansi Flick’s plans ahead of next year’s European Championship.
Borussia Dortmund are interested in bringing in highly rated right-back Iván Fresneda this summer, and are said to be leading the race for his signature. And his potential arrival would mean less playing time for Marius Wolf. But the boyhood BVB fan’s ability to play in multiple positions means that he will no doubt be a useful part of the squad next season.
Wolf has made a total of 90 appearances for Borussia Dortmund since joining the club six years ago. He has five goals and four assists to his name.
