Marlon Gomes (19, CAM, Vasco da Gama)

Marlon Gomes is a player with more national team history than for his club. The midfielder played for the Vasco youth team before receiving his opportunity in the professional squad. He made his debut last season during the Serie B campaign, and had 12 starts in 15 games with two goals and two assists.

In 2023, he is still struggling to find his spot in Vasco’s starting XI, but it doesn’t seem to be an issue in Brazil’s under-20 national team. He was a vital team member during the Sudamericana’s U-20 World Cup campaign. Despite Brazil’s underwhelming run at the tournament, Marlon had one goal and two assists as a starter.

Marlon Gomes is a regular starter in Brazil’s youth system, capable of playing in a variety of positions in the midfield, although he is more offensive-oriented. His struggle to fit in Vasco’s squad has more to do with the club’s situation as a relegation candidate in this year’s Brasileirão than his skillset.

According to Transfermarkt, his valuation is around two million euros, which could make him a bargain for Dortmund.
