Julian Brandt had a breakthrough season in 2022/2023. After singing with Dortmund in the summer of 2019, Brandt struggled to find his best form since his Leverkusen days. Brandt was considered one of the best talents in Germany, but his lack of consistency led to the player only having a handful of performance showcasing the level of brilliance he is capable of. This put his future as a Dortmund player in doubt.

This season, Brandt showed more stability in his performances and creative abilities, which resulted in his contract extension until 2026. He ended the season with ten goals and nine assists in all competitions, showing he can be the playmaker Dortmund was hoping for when signing him four years ago. We can only hope that he can build on this form moving forward and continue to play a pivotal role for the club in the seasons to come.
