Key dates for the 2023/24 Bundesliga season

Ahead of next week’s fixture release day, here are all the key dates for the 2023/24 Bundesliga season which will get underway on August 18.

There is already great anticipation for the start of the 2023/24 Bundesliga season, and the DFL is set to release the full fixture lists on June 30. The forthcoming season of Germany’s top flight will get underway on August 18, with the final matchday of the campaign scheduled to take place on May 18, 2024.

The 2023/24 season will also feature a three-week long winter break, which will begin after Matchday 16 (December 19-20, 2023). With no mid-season World Cup this year, teams will return to action on January 12, 2024.

As always, teams will begin their seasons with the first round of the DFB-Pokal, which will take place a week before the start of the Bundesliga season. While Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig will compete in the DFL-Supercup on August 12. The 2023/24 DFB-Pokal final is scheduled for May 25, 2024.

The Bundesliga promotion and relegation play-offs will take place after the final matchday of the season, with the two legs set for May 23 and May 27 respectively.

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dormund battled for the Bundesliga title until the final kick of the 2022/23 season. And the hope will be that the new season will feature another enthralling title race. The Black and Yellows will be keen to finally end Bayern’s dominant streak and win the Meisterschale next season.

Last season’s 2. Bundesliga winners Heidenheim will make their top flight debut next season. SV Darmstadt also won promotion to the Bundesliga last season, while Schalke 04 and Hertha Berlin were relegated.
