Borussia Dortmund continue to remain confident and undeterred after deciding to pull out of the race to sign Edson Álvarez and Iván Fresneda.

It is fair to say that the summer transfer window has gotten off to a less than ideal start for Borussia Dortmund. Having decided on Edson Álvarez as a key part of their squad building plans months ago, the Black and Yellows made the decision to pull out of the race for his signature earlier this week.

Highly rated right-back Iván Fresneda is also unlikely to join Borussia Dortmund despite being heavily linked with a move to the club for the last six months. While talks over the signing of Felix Nmecha are reaching an advanced stage, amid plenty of controversy and concerns from supporters.

But Borussia Dortmund do not view the situation as an issue, and WAZ and Ruhr Nachrichten are both reporting that those in charge are confident that the club is well on track with their squad planning.

Sebastian Kehl and co. have a number of construction sites to deal with in the coming weeks, after parting ways with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Mahmoud Dahoud and Raphael Guerreiro.

The expectation is that Felix Nmecha will not be the only midfielder Borussia Dortmund sign this summer, with the club also expected to pursue a cheaper alternative to Edson Álvarez. Signing a new right-back and a back-up centre-back could also be on BVB’s list of priorities for this summer.

Borussia Dortmund have faced plenty of roadblocks so far this summer, but there is still plenty of time for them to find solutions and bolster the squad to fight for the Bundesliga title next season.
