Two Ligue 1 midfielders Borussia Dortmund should target: A statistical analysis

Having pulled out of negotiations for Edson Álvarez and spending nearly double the fee on Felix Nmecha than initially expected, Borussia Dortmund will now be in the hunt for bargain midfielders. With the start of the season just over a month away, there is no time to waste for the Black and Yellows.
And following initial transfer delays, they must now press on and bolster their midfield ranks so Edin Terzic has all the players he needs to launch another title charge.
Two players that could fit the description for Borussia Dortmund are Youssouf Fofana and Dion Lopy. The French World Cup star and the 21 year old Senegalese wonderkid could prove to be cheaper alternatives, yet incredibly shrewd signings in midfield for BVB.
Having lost Jude Bellingham and Mahmoud Dahoud, Borussia Dortmund will need players that can play in both the number six and eight role in a double pivot.
