New Borussia Dortmund signing Felix Nmecha could reportedly face a fine in the millions if he posts something that violates the club’s code of values.

Borussia Dortmund completed the controversial signing of Felix Nmecha from VfL Wolfsburg earlier this week, amid plenty of criticism and protests from supporters. The Germany international has shared homophobic and transphobic posts on social media in the past. But if he posts anything that goes against BVB’s code of values in the future, he could be handed a fine in the million euro range.

This is being reported by the Wolfsburg based AZ/WAZ, who claim that Borussia Dortmund have inserted a clause in Nmecha’s contract and he would receive a heavy fine if he were to post anything that violates the club’s core values.

The report adds that this is a way for the BVB bosses to protect themselves financially, as they took a big risk in signing Nmecha. The Black and Yellows paid a transfer fee in the region of 30 million euros for the midfielder.

When asked about the controversy surrounding his posts, Nmecha said in an interview with the club that his posts were “taken out of context.” But he stopped short of apologising.

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke and president Dr. Reinhold Lunow said in a statement that they are convinced the 22 year old does not harbour any homophobic or transphobic beliefs.
