Issa Kabore

Borussia Dortmund could go shopping at a familiar place to find their best value signing of this summer. A Manchester City outcast yet to make his first appearance for them, Issa Kabore has had more than 1100 minutes in Ligue 1 and the Champions League. Following loan spells in France and Belgium, the 22 year old Burkina Faso spent last season with Marseille before requesting a move away from The Etihad.

Issa Kabore ranks in the top 1% of full-backs for progressive passes received. He is so good at receiving these passes, that he averages more than Karim Adeyemi by almost 3. Kabore also ranks in the top 10% of full-backs for tackles, progressive carries, successful take-ons and touches in the attacking penalty area.

Kabore is also an above average progressive passer with many shot creating actions and non-penalty expected goals. The caveat to Kabore’s exceptional numbers is he only made nine league starts for Marseille last season.

But there is enough promise in Kabore’s numbers to take a chance on the 22 year old who has been elevated by moving into a better side before. Kabore at worst should still be able to excel as a substitute against tired defenders. Having voiced his desire to leave Manchester City, Kabore should be available for under ten million euros.
