Sebastian Kehl is hopeful that the injured trio of Felix Nmecha, Youssoufa Moukoko and Karim Adeyemi will all be able to return to training soon.

The Borussia Dortmund players who weren’t on international duty last month returned to training earlier this week to begin preparations for the start of the new season. Felix Nmecha, Youssoufa Moukoko and Karim Adeyemi have not been able to train with the team just yet due to injuries.

And sporting director Sebastian Kehl offered an update on the status of the trio during Friday’s media round.

"“Felix (Nmecha) is unfortunately still injured. It will take a few more days. He is working very hard individually. I expect him to be in team training over the course of the next week.”“Youssoufa (Moukoko) is supposed to be on vacation until July 15 due to his participation in the European Under-21 Championship, but he was here to receive treatment. He definitely wants to return to training as soon as possible. But he will need a few more days.”“The situation is similar with Karim (Adeyemi), who has been working very hard in recent weeks after the muscle injury he suffered last season.”"

Felix Nmecha picked up an injury while playing for VfL Wolfsburg on the final day of last season. Karim Adeyemi was also forced to come off due to a hamstring injury during Borussia Dortmund’s clash against Mainz 05 on matchday 34. While Youssoufa Moukoko suffered a muscle injury during the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

It is unlikely that the trio will be available for Borussia Dortmund’s first pre-season friendly of the summer – against Oberliga side Westfalia Rhynern – next week. But head coach Edin Terzic will hope to have them back in time for the trip to Regionalliga side Rot-Weiß Oberhausen on July 19.
