Borussia Dortmund will play their first pre-season friendly of the summer on Wednesday as they take on Oberliga side Westfalia Rhynern.

Pre-season has started and preparations are underway at Borussia Dortmund for the start of the new campaign. The Black and Yellows will make the short trip to Westfalia Rhynern on Wednesday for their first friendly match of the summer.

With several key first-team players still enjoying their post-season breaks, a number of players from the U-19s and U-23s teams will feature for Edin Terzic’s side on Wednesday.

One player who will be aiming to make an impact is highly rated striker Julian Rijkhoff. The 18 year old is coming off an impressive campaign with the U-19s and will now aim to break into the first-team this season.

Marco Reus, Niklas Süle, Mats Hummels, and Alexander Meyer are among the first-team players who will likely be in the starting XI for Borussia Dortmund against the Oberliga side. Julien Duranville and Mateu Morey are also expected to be in the squad.

New signing Felix Nmecha returned to training on Tuesday. But he remains a doubt to play on Wednesday, having only just recovered from the injury he suffered while playing for Wolfsburg on the final day of last season. Karim Adeyemi and Youssoufa Moukoko are both sidelined at the moment with their respective injuries.
