Thomas Meunier has said that he will not leave Borussia Dortmund this summer if he can’t find a better option, and has also ruled out a return to Belgium.

The future of Thomas Meunier has been the subject of plenty of speculation in recent months. It has been reported that Borussia Dortmund are ready to sell the Belgian right-back for a cut-price fee this summer. But there have been no concrete offers so far.

Meunier has now had his say on the rumours linking him with a move away from Borussia Dortmund. The 31 year old has stated that he will not leave the Black and Yellows this summer unless he can find a better challenge. In an interview with Belgian newspaper La Dernière Heure, Meunier said:

"“Borussia (Dortmund) will be happy to cooperate if a club is interested in a transfer. If I can’t find a better option than Dortmund, I’m not going to leave just for the hell of it. The club knows that and there’s no conflict.”“I’m not even sure,” Meunier added when asked if he would leave if he were to find a new challenge with the same financial conditions. “Nobody feels uncomfortable being here…We’ll see how things develop. Teams in England, for example, often make moves at the end of the transfer window. France, Belgium and Germany, I’ve already been there. Spain, Italy or Portugal could tempt me.”"

There was speculation earlier this month that Meunier has decided to return to Club Brugge, seven years after leaving the club for Paris Saint Germain. It was even claimed that the right-back has reached an agreement on a three year contract with the Belgian side.

But Meunier has now poured cold water on the rumours, adding that he is not thinking about a return to Belgium this summer.

"“It was a huge bluff on the part of whoever put it out. He had even listed the details of the supposed deal. I wondered how someone could lie like that. I never even got a single phone call from Bruges.”“I’ve never thought about it. I’m 31, I have things to live for abroad. I’m not thinking about returning to Belgium any time soon.”"
