Talks between Borussia Dortmund and Gregor Kobel over a contract extension for the goalkeeper are said to be ongoing.
Gregor Kobel is one of the most important players at Borussia Dortmund, and he also established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the Bundesliga last season. Now, the Black and Yellows are ready to reward him with a new contract. And according to Ruhr Nachrichten, talks between the two parties have been going on in the background for some time.
Borussia Dortmund are said to be confident about their chances of extending Kobel’s contract, even if an agreement is not in sight just yet. The newspaper adds that the Switzerland international received inquiries from a number of big clubs this summer. But he turned them down, as he feels very comfortable in Dortmund.
Gregor Kobel still has three years left on his current Borussia Dortmund contract. The 25 year old currently earns an annual salary of around 3.5 million euros at the club. But a contract extension would see him receive a pay rise, and he would become one of the top earners in the BVB squad.
Borussia Dortmund view Gregor Kobel as an indispensable part of the team, and he is also considered to be one of the leading candidates to become the club’s next captain.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have all shown interest in signing the goalkeeper in recent months. But everyone at BVB will hope that he decides to stay at the club for years to come.
