The worry with Thorgan Hazard

With both Thorgan Hazard and Thomas Meunier both being linked with other clubs, they both put in rather lax performances against RW Oberhausen. It is hard to expect much in pre-season as successes and performances give very little to read into. However, Hazard has really struggled to make any impact across the first two friendlies.

No one is expecting the Belgian winger to score or dribble into the box after beating multiple players. However as Reus, Bueno, Süle all pulled out fancy touches or long runs evading defenders, Hazard offered very little. Hazard did have a shot blocked and another saved following an excellent low cross.

The clearest chance of the match was also Hazard’s to be fair, but for a player of his quality he has yet to demonstrate his desire to fight his way back into Edin Terzic’s plans. This is particularly surprising as you would think Hazard would be eager to impress any clubs that may be in for him. But that intent has been missing from his game in the two matches so far.
