Samuel Bamba scored with the final kick of the game to help Borussia Dortmund earn a 3-2 win over fourth division side Rot-Weiß Oberhausen in their second pre-season friendly of the summer.

Borussia Dortmund delivered a rather subdued performance but still managed to see off the challenge of Rot-Weiß Oberhausen on Wednesday. The Black and Yellows were without a number of key players, including new signings Felix Nmecha and Ramy Bensebaini. But they still fielded a strong lineup, with the likes of Marco Reus, Mats Hummels, Niklas Süle, and Thorgan Hazard all starting.

Ordinary defending from Borussia Dortmund allowed Rot-Weiß Oberhausen to take the shock lead in the 6th minute, with Cottrell Ezekwem finding the back of the net after goalkeeper Alexander Meyer came out for a cross but failed to get his hands on the ball.

Marco Reus issued a swift response for Edin Terzic’s side, and made it 1-1 in the 14th minute after the Oberhausen goalkeeper turned his shot into the net.

Antonios Papadopoulos then gave Borussia Dortmund the lead early in the second half with a deflected header. But Manfredas Ruzgis brought the home side back on level terms in the 69th minute, beating Marcel Lotka with a fine finish from outside the box.

Despite the result, it certainly wasn’t the best of performances from Borussia Dortmund, who looked rather laboured and passive at times. Luckily, it is still only pre-season and a number of key players were able to get more minutes under their belts. And Edin Terzic will hope to have more first-team players available for the upcoming matches as we inch closer to the start of the season.
