Borussia Dortmund are reportedly on the verge of completing the signing of midfielder Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich.

Borussia Dortmund are set to bolster their midfield ranks with the signing of Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich. According to multiple reports in Germany, an agreement has now been reached between the two clubs for a fee in the region of 19 million euros including bonuses. The Austrian international will undergo his medical tests before joining the BVB squad for their upcoming US Tour.

It has been heavily reported in recent days that Borussia Dortmund have identified Sabitzer as a transfer target for this summer. Reports claimed that the 29 year old wanted to join an English Premier League side after spending the second half of last season on loan at Manchester United.

But now it appears that the Black and Yellows have won the race for his signature, with an agreement already in place with the Bavarians.

Marcel Sabitzer joined Bayern Munich from RB Leipzig in 2021, but hasn’t been able to make the desired impact. Those in charge at Bayern wanted to sell him this summer, and now he is set to join their title rivals. Sabitzer has made a total of 185 appearances in the Bundesliga.

If the move goes through, Sabitzer will become Borussia Dortmund’s second midfield signing of the summer after Felix Nmecha. Strengthening the squad in the middle of the park was one of the main goals of this transfer window for Sebastian Kehl and co, following the departures of Jude Bellingham, Mahmoud Dahoud, and Raphael Guerreiro.
