Gregor Kobel has said that he feels very comfortable at Borussia Dortmund, with the club looking to extend his contract.

Borussia Dortmund are in talks to extend Gregor Kobel’s contract, with the goalkeeper in line to triple his wages. Kobel has been one of the Black and Yellows’ top performers since joining the club from VfB Stuttgart in 2021. And he has now said that playing for BVB is a huge honour.

In an interview with Sky Sport, Kobel commented on contract talks with Borussia Dortmund and said that he is relatively uninvolved in the whole process.

"“I’ve said on many occasions that I feel very comfortable here and it’s a huge honour for me to play for Borussia Dortmund. Nothing has changed in that regard.”“Personally, I’m relatively uninvolved in the whole process, because the sporting side is important to me and that’s where I clearly set my priority. I’m focusing on that and everything else is being handled by my people, who are already taking care of it.”"

Kobel still has three years left on his current contract. But Borussia Dortmund want to move quickly and extend his contract in order to fend off interested clubs. Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are all said to be keeping tabs on the 25 year old, who is regarded as one of the top young goalkeepers in the world.

Gregor Kobel is also in the race to become the next Borussia Dortmund captain. And the goalkeeper was asked about the prospect of possibly succeeding Marco Reus.

"“I’m someone who always wants to take on responsibility. I’m a guy who wants to help the team and be there for his teammates. We’ll see in the coming weeks how it’s decided.”"
