Youssoufa Moukoko scored a 71st minute winner as Borussia Dortmund came from behind to beat Manchester United 3-2 in a pre-season friendly in Las Vegas.
Borussia Dortmund maintained their 100% pre-season record by claiming a 3-2 win over Manchester United on Sunday evening. A brace from Donyell Malen and a second half winner from Youssoufa Moukoko helped the Black and Yellows get the job done at the Allegiant Stadium.
Edin Terzic gave a hint of the starting XI we might see on the opening day of the 2023/24 season with his lineup. Marcel Sabitzer made his first BVB appearance and started in midfield along with Julian Brandt and Emre Can. Sebastien Haller started up front with Donyell Malen and Karim Adeyemi. While Jadon Sancho featured for Manchester United as he went up against his former club for the first time.
It was Manchester United who started the game on the front foot, and one-time Borussia Dortmund target Diogo Dalot opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a fine finish from the edge of the box.
Quick-fire goals from Donyell Malen helped Borussia Dortmund turn things around on the stroke of half time, and they went into the break with a 2-1 lead.
A mistake from Mats Hummels then helped Manchester United get back on level terms, with Antony making it 2-2 in the 52nd minute.
But Youssoufa Moukoko restored Borussia Dortmund’s lead in the 71st minute with a composed finish under pressure after some good link-up play between Julian Brandt and Marco Reus.
Alexander Meyer was forced into making two big saves late on, but Borussia Dortmund held on for the 3-2 win over Manchester United win in the end.
BVB will now head to Chicago for the final pitstop of their US Tour. Edin Terzic’s side will take on Chelsea on Wednesday before returning to Dortmund.
