Nico Schlotterbeck has been given the all-clear by Borussia Dortmund, but Thomas Meunier faces an extended spell on the sidelines.

Borussia Dortmund have given an update on their injured players, with Nico Schlotterbeck getting the all-clear despite leaving the club’s US Tour after picking up a knee injury during the friendly match against San Diego Loyal. The 23 year old underwent tests in Germany and has avoided a serious injury.

Schlotterbeck will not be able to train with the team this week, and will miss the friendly match against AFC Ajax on Sunday. But the hope will be that he can return to training in time for the start of the season.

Thomas Meunier suffered a more serious muscle injury during Borussia Dortmund’s pre-season friendly match against Manchester United on Sunday. The right-back will now be sidelined for several weeks and will be forced to miss the start of the season.

It has been reported that Meunier is free to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer. But the injury could well put a damper on the club’s hopes of finding a buyer for him before transfer deadline day.

Gregor Kobel also sustained a muscle injury on Sunday. But Borussia Dortmund have now revealed that his injury is a minor one, and he will only be sidelined for about a week.
