Edin Terzic: We want to show everyone that we are ready to take the next step

Edin Terzic said that Borussia Dortmund are ready to take the next step and win the Bundesliga title as he thanked fans for their support during the club’s season opening ceremony on Sunday.

Borussia Dortmund celebrated their team presentation and season opening ceremony at the Westfalenstadion on Sunday. The BVB first-team players and coaches were greeted by 80,000+ fans ahead of their pre-season match against Ajax.

Edin Terzic addressed the Borussia Dortmund supporters and thanked them for their support, especially on the final day of last season after the Bundesliga title heartbreak. The BVB head coach also vowed to fight for the Bundesliga title next season, and added that they want to show that they are ready to take the next step.

"“First of all, on behalf of the team, I would like to say a special thank you for the incredible support we received last season. You were there for us when things were bumpy and especially when it hurt at the end of the season. You proved just what a special club our hearts beat for. We want to show everyone that we are ready to take the next step and that we are not done yet.”"

Borussia Dortmund lost the Bundesliga title to Bayern Munich on goal difference after a dramatic final matchday of last season. After the game, the BVB fans rallied behind the distraught players and offered them support.

Borussia Dortmund will now hope to go one better in the Bundesliga title race this season. Edin Terzic’s side enjoyed a solid pre-season, winning six and drawing one of their matches.

The Black and Yellows are set to play their first competitive game of the 2023/24 season next weekend as they take on Regionalliga side TSV Schott Mainz in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. BVB will then begin their 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign at home to FC Köln.
