Samuel Bamba

Samuel Bamba is another winger who will be looking to catch the eye of Edin Terzic. He has certainly put his right foot forward in Borussia Dortmund’s pre-season matches. In the absence of the international players, he was able to take his chance and scored a late winner in the 3-2 win over Oberhausen.

Bamba has come up the youth ranks and played in Borussia Dortmund’s U-19 setup last season, operating on either side as a winger. His most productive position for goals was as a right footed left winger (5 goals, 0 assists), but for creativity purposes it was as a right winger (1 goal, 4 assists).

This coming season, he will be playing for Borussia Dortmund II and will be pushing to get a look in to the senior team if more depth is required due to injuries.

Strengths and weaknesses

Bamba’s key skills go hand in hand with his playing style. His speed, versatility and agility allows him to seep in and out of his preferred positions, often being able to operate in a central attacking role just as well. His vision and wide passing range helps to break opposition down swiftly.

What can be improved is the temperament of his abilities. Being consistent is imperative to any good footballer, so cutting out the inconsistency will aid his development plentiful. By playing in 3. Liga this season, there is an element of maturity and some experience that will gradually come with the exciting 19 year old’s play.
