Marcel Sabitzer has said that he sees great potential in this Borussia Dortmund squad, adding that winning titles must be their goal every year.
Borussia Dortmund capped off an encouraging pre-season by earning an impressive 3-1 win over Ajax at the Westfalenstadion on Sunday. The BVB players were introduced to the 80,000+ fans at the Westfalenstadion ahead of the game, and new signing Marcel Sabitzer spoke about his desire to win the Bundesliga title this season.
"“That’s why I joined, because I see the potential and the quality in this team. It absolutely has to be BVB’s ambition to win titles. That must be the clear goal this season.”"
Borussia Dortmund narrowly missed out on winning the Bundesliga title last season, with Sabitzer’s former club Bayern Munich lifting the Meisterschale thanks to their superior goal difference.
The Black and Yellows will look to go one better this time around, and we could be in for another fascinating title race in the Bundesliga this season.
Borussia Dortmund have made three signings this summer, bringing in Ramy Bensebaini, Felix Nmecha and Marcel Sabitzer to replace Jude Bellingham, Raphael Guerreiro, and Mahmoud Dahoud.
The Austrian international also stated that he already feels very much at home at Borussia Dortmund, adding that he cannot wait for the season to get underway.
"“Thank you for the nice reception. I am very happy to be here. The first few days are always exciting and thrilling, of course, but the guys have given me a very warm welcome. I already feel very comfortable. I can’t wait to be out on the pitch here.”"
Borussia Dortmund will get their 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign underway in two weeks’ time, with a home game against FC Köln in store for them on matchday one.
