Analysis: How many Bundesliga goals will Sébastien Haller score this season?

Finding the attacking numbers – 2021/22 and 2022/23

As there isn’t one full season to compare, we have used metrics from the previous two seasons as a measure of forecasting what will happen in 2023/24. This section will primarily look at league statistics, unless stated otherwise.

In his final season at Ajax (21/22), Sébastien Haller bagged 21 goals in 31 Eredivisie games. Last season with Borussia Dortmund, he scored 9 goals in a disrupted season that he only played 19 Bundesliga games in.

Using data gathered by Footystats, Haller’s best Eredivisie season saw him average 0.73 goals per 90 minutes. In comparison, there was a slight drop off to 0.62 for BVB in the Bundesliga last season – which was still the best average by a player at the club last season. Despite that, Haller’s goal to game ratio was rather impressive in his debut season. He outperformed his own xG, which had him at 6.41 xG for Bundesliga goals. He scored 9, with a goal every 2.78 shots.
