Opinion: Borussia Dortmund’s ideal XI for the 2023/24 season
By Eli Brand
Left Wing: Karim Adeyemi
Karim Adeyemi, still only 21 will be hoping to make a jump up in quality. With just 6 goals and 5 assists Adeyemi has not yet reached the level he is capable of. Playing in an elite side requires more goal contributions. This is something Dortmund will expect of him this coming season, especially considering just how expensive of a signing he was last summer.
Adeyemi has shown all the traits necessary to become the player Dortmund needs. Since his arrival, Adeyemi has continuously improved his dribbling and like the rest of the team improved his attacking output in the Rückrunde. In pre-season Adeyemi has been unplayable at times on the ball, particularly against Manchester United and Chelsea where he showed his ability in tight spaces and less reliance on his pace.
Adeyemi will look to start to realize his potential this season and improve in the attacking third. If Adeyemi simply stops blatantly diving on the box he will improve his attacking output and take another step toward realizing his potential.
