Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic gave an update on injured duo Karim Adeyemi and Felix Nmecha after they missed the club’s season opener.
Borussia Dortmund began their season on Saturday against TSV Schott Mainz in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. The Black and Yellows had to make do without a number of key players, with the likes of Karim Adeyemi, Felix Nmecha, Gio Reyna, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, and Julien Duranville all forced to miss the game due to injuries.
Edin Terzic gave an update on the status of Karim Adeyemi and Felix Nmecha ahead of the game. The BVB head coach said in an interview with Sky Sport that he expects Adeyemi to be fit in time for next weekend’s Bundesliga opener against FC Köln. But Nmecha remains a doubt for that game.
"“With Karim, we are very confident that he will be available for the start of the Bundesliga season. With Felix, we have to wait and see, but he should return to training during the week.”"
Nmecha has been forced to deal with a number of injury problems since joining Borussia Dortmund from VfL Wolfsburg last month. The midfielder scored a brace during the friendly match against Ajax last weekend, but suffered a muscle injury in training ahead of the trip to Schott Mainz. While Adeyemi picked up a muscle injury ahead of the Ajax friendly.
Borussia Dortmund suffered another blow during the game against TSV Schott Mainz on Saturday, as Niklas Süle was forced to come off in the first half due to a back issue. The hope will be that his injury is not a serious one.
