Report: AS Monaco want to sign Thorgan Hazard
AS Monaco are reportedly interested in signing Thorgan Hazard, who is free to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.
Thorgan Hazard’s future remains uncertain, with Borussia Dortmund hoping to sell him before the transfer window closes. The winger is said to be attracting the interest of AS Monaco, with Sport1 reporting that the Ligue 1 club has already made contact with his representatives. However, it currently remains to be seen if Hazard would be willing to make the switch to Monaco.
Hazard returned to Borussia Dortmund this summer after spending the second half of last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven, where he made a total of 13 appearances.
The 30 year old has fallen out of favour at BVB and is free to leave the club. He was an unused substitute during BVB’s DFB-Pokal tie against TSV Schott Mainz on Saturday, and is unlikely to get much playing time if he stays at the club beyond the end of the transfer window.
Borussia Dortmund signed Hazard from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2019 for a fee of around 25 million euros, and the winger has made a total of 122 appearances for the club. Hazard has less than 12 months left on his current contract with the Black and Yellows.
Thorgan Hazard began his professional career with French club RC Lens. And a return to France may prove to be an appealing option for him as he looks to make a fresh start and fight his way back into the Belgium national team’s plans ahead of next summer’s European Championship.
