Borussia Dortmund player ratings from unconvincing 1-0 win over FC Köln
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund were far from their best but Donyell Malen’s late goal helped them begin their Bundesliga campaign with a 1-0 win over FC Köln.
Borussia Dortmund enjoyed a narrow 1-0 win over FC Köln in their opening Bundesliga game of the season. Despite the result, it was a very disappointing performance from Edin Terzic’s side as they were outplayed by the Billy Goats for much of the game.
Donyell Malen came up with the winning goal for Borussia Dortmund, and there was a stroke of good fortune about the strike as he certainly didn’t make the cleanest of contacts with the ball after getting on the end of Felix Nmecha’s flick-on.
The Black and Yellows will certainly take the three points, but the performance showed plenty of warning signs that Terzic and co. must address before the next game.
Here are our player ratings for the Borussia Dortmund players from their 1-0 win over FC Köln.
Gregor Kobel (7/10)
Borussia Dortmund had Gregor Kobel to thank for not letting Köln cruise to victory in the second half. The Switzerland international made a number of key saves, although he was aided by some poor finishing from the away side. Still, it was a well earned clean sheet for Kobel.
