Borussia Dortmund II’s Abdoulaye Kamara has been the subject of rumors linking him with a move to Juventus.

With the summer transfer window now in it’s latter stages, Borussia Dortmund will be looking to finalize their transfer business as soon as possible so that they can focus on the competitive season, which is already in full swing. While there have been a number of names linked with the club as possible arrivals, Borussia Dortmund II’s Abdoulaye Kamara has been noted as a possible departure.

A product of the esteemed Paris Saint-Germain academy, Kamara joined Dortmund to a buzz of excitement. The young defensive midfielder has been highly regarded as a diamond in the rough and a player to watch in the coming years. His development at Dortmund has been stunted by injuries however, with the player suffering from a menagerie of fitness issues that have kept him off the pitch more than any player would like. The most severe of these was a medial collateral ligament injury that kept him sidelined for 91 days. Kamara has continued to struggle with muscular and knee issues since.

Despite his apparent talent, this lack of match fitness has not allowed Kamara to impose himself at Borussia Dortmund. Recent speculation however suggests that Serie A side Juventus are interested in the player. If true, Borussia Dortmund will certainly have a significant decision to make in terms of Kamara’s future. The structure of Juve’s proposed deal seems to be a loan with an option to buy that would be set somewhere between 3 and 4 million euros.

Due to the player’s current injury status it is expected that this deal will likely not materialize, however putting the injury aside for a moment, the only way Kamara’s departure would benefit Dortmund at this time would be through an outright sale, or a loan without any option to buy. In terms of the former, outright sale at least gives them the option to use profits in the next two transfer windows, and it’s clear that the club has been trying to raise funds by clearing out players that do not see having a future at the Westfalenstadion. In terms of the latter option, a loan allows them to retain Kamara’s services should he impress after recovering, which could lead to his incorporation into the first team or help the club obtain a higher fee for his services.

That being said, a move to Juventus doesn’t seem like the best step for Kamara personally either. He is unlikely to receive as many minutes as he would in Dortmund’s second team or out on loan at a lower division side, which only makes this rumor even more questionable as things stand.
