Emre Can was not happy with Borussia Dortmund’s lacklustre performance during their 1-1 draw against VfL Bochum on Saturday.

Borussia Dortmund played out a 1-1 draw against VfL Bochum in the Ruhr Derby on Saturday, with Donyell Malen cancelling out Kevin Stöger’s first-half goal. It was yet another underwhelming performance from the Black and Yellows. And Emre Can was left annoyed with the way they played.

In an interview with Sky Sport, the BVB captain also said that he felt Bochum were simply greedier and more aggressive over the course of the 90 minutes.

"“It was not a good game from us again. That’s not our ambition. We want to play better, we want to win here, we want to dominate here.”“But we play too many long balls, have too few good solutions with the ball, we lost duels. Perhaps the Bochum team was simply greedier and more aggressive.”"

Borussia Dortmund were certainly lucky to come away with the draw against Bochum, having been outplayed by the hosts for the majority of the game. Edin Terzic’s side were also second best against FC Köln last weekend, but managed to claim the three points thanks to Donyell Malen’s late winner.

The fact that Borussia Dortmund are still unbeaten is perhaps the only positive of the season so far. But everyone at BVB will know that much tougher tests lie ahead, and there is plenty of work to be done if the team is to have any chance of challenging for the Bundesliga title this season.
