Bundesliga Roundup: Harry Kane scores again; Union Berlin flex their muscle

Harry Kane continued his dream start to life in the Bundesliga with a brace against Augsburg, while Leipzig and Union Berlin overcame adversity to clinch big wins.

Playing 70 minutes with a man down was no issue for Union Berlin, as they dispatched Darmstadt 4-1 away from home. Robin Gosens scored a brace, and Kevin Behrens and Danilho Doekhi were also on target for the Berliners. While Marvin Mehlem scored what proved to be only a consolation goal for Darmstadt after USMNT international Brenden Aaronson was sent off.

Harry Kane scored a brace to fire Bayern Munich to a 3-1 win over FC Augsburg in the Bavarian derby. An own goal from Felix Uduokhai helped the reigning Bundesliga champions take the lead, before the England captain scored either side of half-time to seal the win. Dion Drena Beljo pulled a goal back for Augsburg late on.

There was more misery for Borussia Dortmund, who were lucky to come away with a point against VfL Bochum in the Ruhr Derby. A blistering strike from Kevin Stöger helped Bochum take the lead, before Donyell Malen secured a share of the spoils for the Black and Yellows.

RB Leipzig came from behind to hammer VfB Stuttgart 5-1. Serhou Guirassy gave Stuttgart the lead in the first-half, but second-half goals from Benjamin Henrichs, Dani Olmo, Loïs Openda, Kevin Kampl, and Xavi Simons helped Marco Rose’s side earn a decisive win.

Bayer Leverkusen continued their impressive start to the season, as a brace from Victor Boniface helped them beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-0. Jonathan Tah was also on target for Die Werkself.

There was heartbreak for Heidenheim in their first ever Bundesliga home game, as they let a two-goal lead slip and fell to a 3-2 defeat against Hoffenheim. Goals from Jan-Niklas Beste and Marvin Pieringer helped Heidenheim go 2-0 up, before Maximilian Beier pulled one back in the 77th minute. Pavel Kaderabek then equalised three minutes later, before Andrej Kramarić completed the comeback from the penalty spot in the 90th minute.

Maximilian Philipp celebrated his return to SC Freiburg in style, as he scored a 96th minute winner to help them beat Werder Bremen 1-0.

Jonas Wind scored another brace as he led Wolfsburg to a come from behind 2-1 win over FC Köln. Luca Waldschmidt gave the Billy Goats the lead in the 55th minute, but a quick-fire brace from Wind helped Niko Kovac’s side earn the three points.

A dramatic 90th minute equaliser from Omar Marmoush helped 10-man Eintracht Frankfurt earn a 1-1 draw against Mainz, who had taken the lead in the first-half through Jae-sung Lee.
