Borussia Dortmund continue to explore options to sign at striker, with FC Augsburg’s Mergim Berisha rumored to be one of the club’s alleged targets.

As the Bundesliga transfer window moves ever closer to it’s final day, Borussia Dortmund are seemingly looking to seal one or two more deals before the window closes in the hopes of optimizing their squad for the 2022/23 season. Rumors surrounding Armel Bella-Kotchap have begun to circulate again, with Die Schwarzgelben emerging as frontrunners to sign the player on loan from Southampton. This is coupled with recent rumors surrounding a potential swoop for Augsburg attacker Mergim Berisha.

Berisha is said to be valued at 15-20 million euros by Augsburg, and it was revealed earlier this month that the player is indeed looking to leave for pastures new. Augsburg’s valuation exceeds the alleged 8-10 million euros Dortmund have on hand to spend on a striker, however.

Sources have painted a very mixed picture regarding this rumor so far, with Sky Sport indicating Dortmund’s interest is strong, while other sources claim that the interest is not as strong as initially believed.

Dortmund have also been linked with Yussuf Poulsen in recent days, with RB Leipzig understandably not interested in getting rid of the Dane with so little time to find a replacement. Berisha’s situation seems more favorable for Dortmund to come in and strike a deal, however the price tag currently sits a a price point the club may find too expensive.

According to Patrick Berger of Sport1, it may be too little too late For Dortmund to land another striker anyway. It is looking increasingly likely that despite Edin Terzić’s wishes, the club won’t push too hard to sign another attacker. Whatever the truth may be, Dortmund are certainly running out of time and need to act quickly if they intend to make sure any last-minute signings before the window closes.
